LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man was sentenced in connection to several fights involving pepper spray at Louisville's Fest-A-Ville.
20-year-old Elijah Cummings pleaded guilty Thursday to menacing, fleeing from police and disorderly conduct.
Police said "large groups of unaccompanied juveniles" started gathering around 7 p.m. April 26 around the waterfront, Waterfront Park and the base of The Big Four Bridge. Officers observed the juveniles in fights and pepper spraying one another.
According to court documents, police saw Cummings attempting to pull out a gun with an expended magazine as he was arguing with someone. Police said when Cummings saw the light from officers shining on him, he attempted to put the gun back in his waistband and ran. Officers were able to arrest him after a short chase.
Cummings was sentenced to 30 days of house arrest and two years of probation.
The incidents prompted KDF to close Fest-A-Ville early for the day and limit how many children adults could bring with them.
