LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville basketball commit Isaac Ellis is changing course again — this time by speeding it up.
The dynamic combo guard announced Saturday that he is reclassifying from the Class of 2027 back into the Class of 2026, accelerating his arrival to coach Pat Kelsey and the Cardinals by a year. The move was first reported by Joe Tipton of On3 Sports.
Ellis had originally been part of the 2026 recruiting cycle before reclassifying into 2027 late last year after reopening his recruitment from South Carolina. He later committed to Louisville following an unofficial visit to campus.
Now, the 6-foot-1 guard from Moravian Prep in North Carolina is moving back into the 2026 class, giving Louisville another high-profile addition to its future roster planning.

In comments to On3 after his commitment, Ellis said Louisville’s culture and Kelsey’s energy stood out during his visit.
"I love the culture and the entire staff," Ellis said. "Everybody preaches on family and culture, but you can kind of sniff out when they are faking it."
Ellis has become one of the most productive and visible young guards in Overtime Elite. Playing for YNG Dreamerz, he averaged 30.4 points, 8.0 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game while setting the league’s single-game scoring record with 56 points. He also became OTE’s all-time assists leader.
The younger brother of South Carolina guard Eli Ellis, Isaac has also built a substantial social media following, with more than 1 million TikTok followers and more than 400,000 followers on Instagram. The brothers are featured in the YouTube series "Family Business."
