LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — There was a close call between a UPS plane and another aircraft at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport this week.Â
Around 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, air traffic control instructed UPS Flight 1303 to "go-around" during its approach after another aircraft turned onto the runway without permission, an FAA spokesperson said.
The FAA said the "required separation was maintained" meaning the aircrafts never made contact.Â
In a statement, Michelle Polk with UPS said "there was no operational impact" during the incident.Â
This comes five months after a UPS cargo plane crashed near Louisville’s airport shortly after takeoff, killing 15 people, including three crewmembers.
