Adam Troutman - 4.19.26

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville Metro Police officers now know what type of vehicle they're looking for in connection to the deadly hit-and-run crash late Thursday night in Louisville's Highview neighborhood.

The vehicle involved is believed to be a 2016 or 2017 Chevy Equinox with right hand side damage and a broken right headlight. The color is not known, an LMPD spokesperson said in a statement Monday.

The crash happened around 11 p.m. near the intersection of Vaughn Mill Road and Briscoe Lane. When officers arrived, they found a man who had been hit by a vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

The man was identified Friday by the Jefferson County Coroner as 27-year-old Adam J. Troutman of Louisville.

Police said preliminary findings indicate Troutman was walking along the right-hand shoulder of Vaughn Mill Road in a dark, unlit area, heading northbound, when he was hit from behind by an unknown vehicle traveling in the same direction. The impact knocked the Troutman off the roadway and into a ditch.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time or who may have more information about the vehicle involved to call LMPD at 502-574-LMPD (5673) or submit a tip through the department’s online crime tip portal.

LMPD’s Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate the crash, which is still "very active and ongoing."
