LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Jefferson County Public Schools Superintendent Brian Yearwood will recommend that the Board of Education approve offers for two school properties up for sale.
According to an agenda for a May 12 board meeting, Christ Temple Christian Life Center is offering to purchase the property of King Elementary School for $1,020,000.
A letter of intent states the nonprofit plans to use the property "for continued institutional use consistent with church, educational and community functions."
The nonprofit does not plan to demolish the building and anticipates investing significant money into renovation.
King was one of two elementary schools closed as part of millions of dollars in cuts to address a budget deficit.
"We believe this proposal aligns with JCPS’ objectives for responsible disposition of surplus properties while ensuring ongoing public benefit," the letter states.
The Tea Spot LLC is looking to purchase the Waller-Williams at Riverport property for $945,250.
The company has a location in the 4100 block of Cane Run Road. They sell dietary and weight loss products.
Waller-Williams is relocating to an "existing facility in the Fairdale neighborhood," citing costs, 39% capacity and a cost per student of about $111,000.
