LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A popular Louisville music venue and bar will relocate.

Whirling Tiger, located at 1335 Story Ave., plans to close by the end of the year and reopen in a new home in Butchertown in early 2027, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.

The new address hasn't been announced, but co-owner Mark Evans said the new location will be larger.

"The new location is secure, and we will be announcing details soon," Evans told Louisville Business First. "The new spot will be a campus with various zones and vibes. Very excited about it."

The current property and adjacent building were listed this week for $2.25 million. The listing is tied to the planned relocation.

"I think the Whirling Tiger is doing pretty well there, but they are moving to a new location a little closer to NuLu," Kevin Sullivan, a real estate agent with Walter Wagner Jr. Co. LLC, told Louisville Business First. "That’s kind of the reason for putting it on the market. It’s about to be empty, and I don’t think it’s the direction Brian’s going in with a lot of his stuff."

In a social media post on April 1, Whirling Tiger said "It’s time to grow. Expect the same vibes but with more room to play outside."
