LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) ā A man was charged with murder after police said a woman was shot and killed inside a Jeffersontown apartment Tuesday night.
According to a citation from the Jeffersontown Police Department, officers were called to an apartment in the 3000 block of Fir Trail around 7:30 p.m. for a reported shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a woman with a gunshot wound to her shoulder. EMS transported her to the hospital, where she later died during emergency surgery.
Jeffersontown police identified the woman as 19-year-old Noraa Deglow.
Police arrested 21-year-old Adam Thomas at the scene. According to the report, officers recovered a revolver from his jacket pocket that contained one spent cartridge.
Thomas told police the two had been watching TV and smoking before the shooting. He said he picked up the gun and tossed it, and it went off.
Witnesses inside the apartment told police Thomas had a habit of removing his firearm and pointing it at people in what he described as a playful manner. One witness also reported hearing Thomas say the gun had misfired immediately after the shooting.
Thomas is being held at Metro Corrections. He appeared in court Wednesday morning for his arraignment, where he pleaded not guilty and his bond was set at $500,000 cash.
