LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville Metro Police seized two more vehicles as part of an ongoing crackdown on illegal street racing.
LMPD said in a social media post that a Dodge Charger and a BMW were stopped Sunday night after being observed racing along Preston Highway near Outer Loop. Both vehicles were impounded under the city’s street racing ordinance.
The ordinance requires a $1,000 fine and a six-month impound for a first offense. Repeat violations can result in higher fines and longer impound periods.
Police said street racing, intersection takeovers and other reckless driving behaviors pose serious safety risks and will continue to be targeted as part of enforcement efforts.
Authorities are urging drivers to avoid illegal racing activity, especially as warmer weather typically leads to an increase in street-related incidents.
