LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Police found an inmate more than two weeks after he escaped from a transport vehicle outside the Nelson County Correctional Center in Bardstown, Kentucky.
A transport vehicle from Spencer County was bringing an inmate, identified as Ja'wan McKnight, from another county to Nelson County on Friday, April 10, due to active warrants.
When the vehicle arrived at the Nelson County Correctional Center, and before entering the facility, the inmate exited the transport vehicle and ran from the area on foot.
Police said in a social media post that McKnight was found Saturday morning by officers.
According to court documents, McKnight is facing new charges of contempt of court, failure to appear in court, trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree (first offense, cocaine), two counts of persistent felony offender in the first degree, promoting contraband in the first degree and assault in the fourth degree (domestic violence with a minor injury).
The Bardstown Police Department said on April 10 that McKnight had active warrants “for trafficking meth and other trafficking offenses.”
Police also captured an inmate last week from the Nelson County Correctional Center after he walked off his work program.
