LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A 42-year-old Kentucky man died Thursday evening after a  single-vehicle collision in southern Indiana, police said.

According to a release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, officers were dispatched around 7:30 p.m. to the area of 779 North U.S. Highway 31 in Seymour, Indiana, on reports of a single-vehicle collision.

An investigation determined the driver, identified as Earl Vaught, of California, Kentucky, was traveling southbound on U.S. 31 when his car swerved off the roadway.

Police said evidence showed Vaught overcorrected and crossed both lanes of traffic before crashing into a "culvert/driveway."

Vaught's car then went airborne for approximately 116 feet before rolling multiple times toward the east side of the road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved, and no one else was injured.

Witnesses told police the car appeared to be speeding just before Vaught lost control.

The crash remains under investigation.
