LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A nearly hidden doorway on Whiskey Row will soon lead guests into a new bourbon experience rooted in Louisville’s past, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.
The 1933 Society, a speakeasy-style bar opening May 5 beneath Hotel Distil, will blend history, storytelling and high-end bourbon in an intimate setting.
The 60-seat venue sits below one of the most historic stretches of the city’s bourbon industry. It features a discreet entrance at First and Main streets and a design meant to echo Prohibition-era hideaways.
"Whiskey Row has always been central to bourbon’s story," said Casey Grinold, general manager of Hotel Distil. "The 1933 Society builds on that legacy by offering rare pours and a cocktail program inspired by the people who kept the industry alive during Prohibition."
The bar’s menu is designed to tell those stories through cocktails inspired by key figures from that era.
Alongside story-driven drinks, guests can expect a mix of classic cocktails, unique creations and rare bourbon selections, including single-barrel offerings.
The 1933 Society will be open Tuesday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to midnight and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
