LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville first baseman Tague Davis is one step away from one of college baseball's highest individual honors.
Davis was named one of five finalists Thursday for the Dick Howser Trophy, presented annually to the nation's top college baseball player. Voting is by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
The Louisville sophomore joins Roch Cholowsky of UCLA, Jackson Flora of UC Santa Barbara, Landon Hairston of Arizona State and Daniel Jackson of Georgia as finalists for the award.
He would be the second Louisville player ever to win the honor, joining Brendan McKay, who won it in 2017.
Davis put together one of the most prolific offensive seasons in Louisville history in 2026. He set school records with 34 home runs and 98 RBIs, while also establishing a new ACC single-season home run record.
The sophomore became just the second Louisville player to earn ACC Player of the Year honors and led all Division I players in both home runs and RBIs during the regular season. According to Louisville, he is the first player to lead the nation in both categories since 2003.
The Dick Howser Trophy winner will be announced June 12 during a news conference at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, site of the College World Series.
