Jason Bean

The Louisville Kings traded starting quarterback Jason Bean to DC and released running back Benny Snell on Sunday, April 19.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Louisville Kings made changes to their backfield and quarterback room Sunday, trading starting quarterback Jason Bean to the DC Defenders for quarterback Mike DiLiello and releasing former Kentucky star Benny Snell.

The moves came after a difficult first four games for the expansion UFL franchise.

Bean had started all four games for Louisville, completing 58 of 122 passes for 819 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions. He completed just 47.5% of his throws.

With Bean out, Kings coach Chris Redman said Chandler Rogers will take over as the team’s starter.

Rogers has seen limited action in three games this season, completing 14 of 21 passes for 160 yards with one interception.

“We are really excited to see Chandler get an opportunity to lead our team,” Redman said. “He is a team-first player who is ready for this challenge put before him.”

Louisville acquired DiLiello from DC in the deal. DiLiello has appeared in seven games over the past two seasons with the Defenders. In 2025, he completed 26 of 56 passes for two touchdowns and also rushed 17 times for 73 yards. He has appeared in one game this season.

Before turning pro, DiLiello spent his final two college seasons at Austin Peay, where he threw for 5,611 yards and 49 touchdowns with 21 interceptions, while also adding more than 600 rushing yards.

The Kings also moved on from Snell, the former Kentucky standout and NFL running back, after four games.

Snell led Louisville with 31 carries, but managed just 72 yards — an average of 2.3 yards per attempt — and did not score a rushing touchdown.

Louisville will be back on the road next Sunday, April 26, when it travels to face the Dallas Renegades at 3 p.m. ET.
