LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Kentucky's auditor will speak to a Congressional subcommittee in Washington this week about fraud prevention.Â
Allison Ball is scheduled to testify Wednesday morning at the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Government Operations. Ball said she's uncovered more than $1 billion worth of waste, fraud and abuse in federally-funded programs in Kentucky.Â
She will address the subcommittee about how her team has increased government accountability in the commonwealth.Â
Recent audits found Kentucky overcharged $33 million in taxes, had $170 million in unreported Medicaid spending and missed nursing home inspections.
"It's an honor to be recognized as a leading voice on this topic nationally, and I look forward to testifying about how my team has been so effective at increasing government accountability in the commonwealth," Ball said in a news release Monday. "I stand ready to provide any help I can to Congress as they too tackle these issues for the benefit of the people of Kentucky and all Americans."
The Subcommittee on Government Operations is part of the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, chaired by Kentucky Congressman James Comer.
