LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 35-year-old woman has been charged with assault after she allegedly stabbed another woman at a Campbellsville home.
According to the Campbellsville Police Department, officers responding to a home on Smith Ridge Road just before 1 p.m. Wednesday found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds in the front yard.
Witnesses said they heard Thompson and the victim arguing, and that Thompson said she was going to stab her.
After Thompson's arrest, she reportedly told police the two women were fighting in the street when the victim tried repeatedly to punch her in the face. That's when Thompson said she took out a box cutter and started swinging it at the victim to get her off of her.
Thompson said she wasn't sure if the box cutter was open, and the knife only made contact with the victim once.
Thompson was arrested at the scene. She is facing one count of first degree assault. She is being held in the Taylor County Detention Center.
