LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Crews rescued a driver stranded on top of their vehicle that was submerged in floodwaters Tuesday morning in Palmyra, Indiana.

In a Facebook post, fire officials said crews with the Palmyra and Jackson Township fire departments were called to Old Palmyra and Dutch Creek roads at 6:36 a.m. for a reported water rescue.

Once on scene, crews found a vehicle completely submerged in floodwater and the driver stranded on top of the vehicle. With the help of crews from the Highlander Fire Protection District, firefighters were able to remove the person from the water and bring them to safety.

Fire officials said no injuries were reported.

With more rain in the forecast this week, they're reminding drivers to never drive through flooded roads as water levels can rise quickly, making conditions often impossible to see.
