LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Schimpff's Confectionery defended its title as the "Best Candy Store in America."

The 135-year-old family-owned business in downtown Jeffersonville, Indiana, won the crown for a second year in a row thanks to USA Today voters.

Founded in 1891, Schimpff's is known for its handmade candies, including red hots, toffee and Modjeskas. The shop also features a deli lunch counter, a 1950s-style soda fountain and a candy museum.

Warren and Jill Schimpff ran the shop from 1990-2025. Their cousin, Steve Shepherd, a fifth-generation family member, and his wife, Beth, now run the famous business. Warren and Jill Schimpff still work in the shop and help with tours.

"We are so grateful to the public for voting for Schimpff's again," Steve Shepherd, also known as "Cousin Steve," said in a news release Wednesday.

"Over several generations, our family has put our heart and soul into this business to make it what it is today. We're honored by the support, and we share this victory with Jeffersonville, and all of our devoted customers, friends, and family across the world."
