LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — KFC will launch a brand makeover featuring new menu items, specialty drinks and updated restaurants.

According to our partners at Louisville Business First, the global refresh will begin in the United Kingdom and Ireland before expanding to the United States, Australia and other markets later this year.

The changes include additional boneless chicken options, an expanded lineup of sauces and new menu offerings centered around bold flavors. KFC is also introducing a new beverage platform featuring refreshers, shakes, lemonades and iced coffees.

An open-concept restaurant is expected to open in Texas later this year, while a two-story KFC is planned in Dubai.

KFC said the overhaul is intended to modernize the customer experience and help the brand separate itself from a growing field of chicken competitors.

The announcement came after parent company Yum! Brands said it would move KFC's headquarters from Louisville to Plano, Texas. While some jobs are relocating, Yum! committed to keeping a major presence in Louisville through a long-term downtown office lease.
