LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Now that summer is over, do you have a doctor's appointment coming up? If so, you need to be on guard for extra fees.
More and more of them are adding fees for paperwork, asking questions about other issues, even for getting a copy made.
Some eye doctors are even charging for copies of prescriptions.
Under of the contact lens rule of 2021 and eyeglass rule of 2024, eye doctors are required to hand you your prescription free. And that means no extra copy or paperwork fees.
That's just one sneaky fee to watch for.
Extra questions could mean extra fees at a doctor's office. Doctors said it's to keep annual checkups to a reasonable times and not back up other patients who were waiting.
Consumer's checkbooks say extra charges are becoming common, including facilities fees and administrative fees.
