LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A death investigation is underway after Louisville police say a 5-year-old boy died from his injuries after a fall Tuesday afternoon.
Officers were called to a home in the 2900 block of Conestoga Avenue just after 3 p.m. Sept. 2 on a report that a child had "sustained traumatic injuries due to a fall," Louisville Metro Police Spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said in a statement. That's near Algonquin Park in the city's Park Duvalle neighborhood.
The 5-year-old was transported to Norton Children's Hospital as LMPD's Homicide Unit took over the investigation due to the severity of the child's injuries.
Mitchell said the boy died Wednesday.
The death investigation is ongoing, pending the results of an autopsy, Mitchell said.
The circumstances surrounding the child's fall are unknown. It is also unclear whether anyone will face criminal charges in his death.
