LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A person was killed and another was injured in a crash near Male High School in Louisville Friday evening.

Officers were called to the 4400 block of Preston Highway just after 7:30 p.m. on a reported crash between a passenger vehicle and a motorcyclist, according to Louisville Metro Police Spokesperson John Bradley.

Once on scene, police found two people on the motorcycle, a man and a woman, who were injured. They were taken to University Hospital with critical injuries where the woman later died. The man remains in serious condition

Bradley said the two were reportedly not wearing helmets.

It's unclear if the person in the passenger vehicle was injured.

Preston Highway was closed in both directions in front of Male for a time while police investigated and cleared the scene.

LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating.
