LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Lanesville Community Schools will host a cleanup this weekend as it works to rebuild after flash flooding this week destroyed the district's athletic complex.

It's scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at the athletic facility. Those who are able to help are asked to bring any equipment they think might be useful, except for large equipment like a skid steer.

Lunch will be provided to volunteers, who are being asked to enter Heritage Park via Tandy Road where there will be a sign-in sheet. Parking will be available at the Community Center.

Those who can't attend but still want to help can donate to a flood relief fund. Donations will go directly toward repairing the track, soccer, softball and baseball fields, as well as replacing any lost or damaged equipment.

Checks can be made out to Lanesville Athletics, with "flood relief" in the memo. Those can be mailed to the school at 2725 Crestview Ave., Lanesville, IN 47136. Donations can also be dropped off at the school's main office.

"We appreciate your outpouring of support and know this is exactly what makes living in Harrison County and the surrounding areas such a blessing," organizers said. "We look forward to building our facilities back for our young athletes better than before to allow them to grow and develop."

Lanesville Water customers remain under a 72-hour boil water advisory, which was issued Wednesday morning.

More than eight inches of rain fell over the course of about three hours in Lanesville on Tuesday, turning streets into rivers, trapping neighbors in their homes and businesses and caused some to take shelter on rooftops.
