LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A big donation from a Louisville nonprofit saved the Germantown Little League.
Shirley’s Way donated $70,000 for repairs to the Germantown Little League baseball facility.
The money will be used to replace a deteriorating roof, fix two air-conditioning units and replace concession stand equipment.
The organization serves hundreds of youth athletes and families. Without the repairs, it could have lost its insurance coverage.
It also could have forced the program to suspend operations.
"Shirley’s Way was built on a simple 'people helping people' mentality," said Mike Mulrooney, CEO and founder of Shirley’s Way, in a news release. "Every kid deserves access to great equipment and safe facilities that set them up for success. Germantown Little League has been a cornerstone of this community for decades, and we’re just happy we could help."
The Little League has only missed one spring season in its more than 70-year history, which was due to COVID.
